Today is a pivotal day: new development with relevant connections to a significant moment in history. Details below.
HAPPENING NOW
Today is the 19th anniversary of the US Patriot Act. We have covered this bill in great length over the years, and have worked steadfastly to counter its worst excesses, which include intrusive surveillance practices geared toward the American Muslim community.
In our contemporary digital landscape, where social media reigns supreme, invasions of privacy are hardly so much as an afterthought. At the same time, privacy rights have only become more important as a tool to maintain systems of inequality and to police the American population.
We want to make sure that we do not lose momentum on this critical issue. Now, more than ever, we need to build a popular front against intrusive surveillance practices. Have you or someone you know had experiences with the Patriot Act?

THIS EVENING
Later this evening, the Senate is expected to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett onto the Supreme Court. Judge Barrett’s position on the Supreme Court will shape our nation’s future, particularly as it pertains to issues of civil rights and civil liberties. However, many of the particular ways her appointment can impact American Muslims have gone unreported.
Your voice is a crucial component of our broader effort to build a space where American Muslims can make their voices heard in our collective American future. This confirmation will have a substantial impact on our collective American future. We want to hear your take. Join the conversation regarding how a Justice Amy Coney Barrett could potentially affect you, your family and loved ones in any capacity.
