Mosque Safety & Security
April 30, 2019
The month of Ramadan is a time for self-reflection, reconnecting with God, and making a concerted effort to strengthen our ties as a community. Our mosques will be filled with worshipers and workers for the nightly programs and prayers. Following the tragic attacks in New Zealand, we want to make sure that our community is prepared for any risk in this busy time. Here are some things that you can do to enhance your safety and security.
- Be aware of your surroundings, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious behavior to the mosque leadership.
- Learn how to train your mosque on enhancing security measures for the nightly programs.
- Report hate crimes in your community and engage your local government.
- Sign up for our conference call for mosque & community leaders with local, state and federal government and law enforcement officials this Thursday, May 2nd to give further guidance on these security procedures.
Additionally, we have prepared a guide on improving safety and security for this month. Please share this information with your mosque or community center. We are also available to reach out to the federal agencies providing these services on your behalf.
We will be having a conference call for mosque & community leaders with local, state and federal government and law enforcement officials on Thursday, May 2nd to give further guidance on these security procedures. If you or your mosque are interested, please sign up here.
