We stand with our coalition of interfaith leaders in asking the Gates Foundation hold true to their belief that every life has equal value, and respectfully ask that they rescind the offer. -

Predatory lending practices in California create a cycle of debt for residents that make the rich richer and the poor poorer. AB 539, the Fair Access to Credit Act bill puts a cap on interest rates and can be a tool to help break this cycle. Read our letter in conjunction with our coalition of faith-based leaders. -

We, in coalition with 118 partner organizations, sent a letter urging the House of Representatives to hold an oversight hearing within the first 100 days of the 116th Congress to review the implementation of the Muslim Ban. Demanding a hearing is the first step in addressing the Muslim Ban legislatively. -

Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States could put this founding principle in jeopardy. 37 interfaith organizations have published a coalition letter to the Senate urging that they ask pointed questions and request key documents to uphold this fundamental protection. -

Over 100 civil liberties and civil rights organizations joined together with the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights to press Congress to reconsider the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. -

As part of the Defend LA coalition, we are requesting urgent reforms in the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office in the form of hiring 15 additional immigration experts to join the LACPD's Immigration Unit. These additional positions are necessary to ensure that the office has adequate resources to meet its constitutional, statutory, and ethical obligations to its noncitizen clients. -

MPAC, as part of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, has signed a coalition letter to express criticism of the Ryan and Goodlatte proposals. Neither bill would end the inhumane treatment of children at the Southern border. This is because neither bill would bring an end to the administration’s recent policy decision that has intentionally caused trauma to children. -

The data on hate crimes tells a clear story: Islamophobia, xenophobia, and other forms of hate are experiencing a virtual renaissance. As the US Commission on Civil Rights prepares a final report, our comments urge them to address the rising threat of violent bigotry towards our communities, and the deficiencies within the federal government that keep it from adequately protecting us.
