MPAC REJECTS AL-QAEDA'S LATEST MESSAGE, CALLS ON U.S. FOR UNITED STAND AGAINST TERROR

March 7, 2010

MPAC, a leading Muslim public policy organization in Washington, today called for a rapid response to Al-Qaeda's latest call for acts of terrorism. Al-Qaeda's spokesman, American born Adam Gadahn, recently issued a video calling on American Muslims to attack U.S. targets, and praised the actions of Major Nidal Hasan who killed 13 Americans at Ft. Hood.

MPAC rejects this latest call for criminal acts by Al-Qaeda, considering it a failed attempt to deliver its bankrupt ideology to Western Muslims, who have continued to reject terrorism in all its forms. Just this week, well-recognized Muslim scholar Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri issued a 600-page ruling (fatwa) rejecting terrorism and suicide bombing as anti-Islamic.

"There must be vigilance in reporting any threat to our country to law enforcement," said MPAC Executive Director Salam Al-Marayati. "We are calling on the U.S. government -- including the Obama Adminstration, Congressional Leaders, and Law Enforcement Officials -- to stand with Muslim Americans through strong partnerships of trust in our consistent and effective efforts to fight terrorism."

A united stand by all Americans is needed now to respond to Al-Qaeda in an effective manner. Al-Qaeda's goal is to create mass hysteria in the United States through terror and threats of terror. A calm but strong response is imperative to America's interests.
