Actor, director, author and activist, George Takei has been a consistent voice speaking out against anti-Muslim rhetoric. A dedicated human rights advocate, Takei is an important voice warning us that today’s political rhetoric about American Muslims is reminiscent of the rhetoric that led to one of the darker stages of our history -- the outright internment of Japanese Americans.

We cannot be fighting each other. That is exactly what ISIS wants. They see this issue as a war between Islam and the West. The more you fuel that rhetoric, the more you play into their hands. ISIS represents cruelty. Islam represents mercy. ISIS represents destructive behavior. Islam says to go and build a civilization. American Muslims are part of the solution. That sizes ISIS down. That puts them in their place. They are nothing more than a mafia and criminals that use the veneer of religion to support their cruel, barbaric practices.
