As part of MPAC’s First Amendment Series in advance of the House Judiciary Subcommittee’s upcoming “Sharia-Free America” hearing, MPAC is convening legal and policy experts to unpack what is truly at stake.
This Wednesday, the Subcommittee will hold its second hearing, “Sharia-Free America: Why Political Islam & Sharia Law are Incompatible with the U.S. Constitution: Part II.” In response, MPAC is launching a three-part conversation exploring what this hearing means, not only for American Muslims, but for the constitutional freedoms and civil liberties that affect every American.
Join MPAC’s Haris Tarin and Dr. Asifa Quraishi-Landes for a critical discussion on what Sharia actually is and isn’t, and how it has been distorted and weaponized in political discourse, and why efforts like the “Sharia-Free America” movement threaten core constitutional protections.
