In Wilmington, North Carolina, the Islamic Center of Wilmington is the latest mosque to face a reported threat after surveillance footage captured an individual allegedly threatening to tear down the mosque.
The FBI and local law enforcement are investigating, and the mosque has increased security measures to protect its congregation.
Week after week, we are seeing the consequences of rising anti-Muslim rhetoric manifest in real threats and violence against American Muslims, from the stabbing of a Muslim man in Utah to escalating threats against mosques nationwide, including the dangerous “burn mosque” trend.
