  • Government & Policy Summit Brings Rising Stars to DC

    Last week, 15 American Muslim college and graduate students from around the country traveled to Washington, DC, for MPAC’s 8th annual Government and Policy Summit. Over four days, they had the unique opportunity to learn about the policy-making process through high-level meetings with various leaders at the White House, federal agencies, Congress, think tanks and civic groups. Plus, they participated in leadership development workshops and learned about opportunities for their own career development in the arena of policymaking.

  • Launching New Muslim Artists & Creative Voices at Hollywood Summit

    This week, 14 young American Muslims from all around the country spent four whirlwind days in Los Angeles for our 4th annual Young Leaders Hollywood Summit. This talented group of aspiring artists, filmmakers, actors and content creators had the priceless opportunity to meet with industry giants from CBS Television, Fox Studios, the Creative Artists Agency, the professional guilds, and YouTube Space LA. They also got to meet with successful American Muslims working in the industry, and built their own network to support one another as they launch their careers.

    MPAC is proud to announce that Young Leaders alum Salmah Rizvi has been named a 2014 recipient of the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. The fellowship program, founded in 1998, supports up to two years of graduate study in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States.

  • Youth, Parents Gather for 'Let's Be Honest' Forum

    In late March, MPAC hosted a “Let’s Be Honest” forum with the Muslim Youth Group (MYG) of the Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC). With the intent of tackling taboo topics such as drugs and alcohol, premarital sex and homosexuality, the forum, for the first time, brought together a panel of MYG members and elders.

  • Intersection of Spirituality & Social Justice Brought Ncube to MPAC

    This past fall and currently this spring term, Gabbi Ncube has been interning with MPAC in communication, marketing and media. Originally from Tempe, AZ, Ncube is a third year student at Occidental College in Los Angeles. She is working toward her major in media arts and culture, with a focus on media production and screenwriting, and a minor in critical theory and social justice.
