She is currently a student of Indiana University with a major in International Relations and a focus in International Development, along with a minor in Spanish and Political Science. Originally from England, brought up in Indiana, Aysha’s passion for learning and engaging experiences has guided her to the fast-paced world of politics and policy in Washington, D.C.

However, the growing protests and subsequent coverage showed that the racial tensions exposed are, in fact, pervasive across the country. -

One of the most engaging ways of communicating your message to your fellow Muslims is by going to them and asking the question: How can we help you? Last Saturday night, I Am Change Fellow Abeer Gaber and Community Outreach Fellow Marwa Abdelghani went to Masjid Taqwa in Altadena, CA to do just that. The community members of the area reflected a deep passion in wanting their mosque to grow and develop. They welcomed MPAC’s extended hand in wanting to assist the mosque in any way possible. -

MPAC President Salam and Al-Marayati, along with Community Outreach Coordinator Cherif Abou El Fadl and Special Projects Fellow Omar Noureldin published an op-ed in “On Faith” this week called “Takfirism: The Key to Understanding ISIL.” The op-ed explores the method through which ISIL uses Islam to justify it’s crimes. It also explores ISIL’s “ideological underpinnings” by looking at the history of takfirism and offers recommendations on how the United States can combat violent extremism. -

I Am Change is an interactive three-hour civic leadership workshop created to educate and empower American Muslims with the skills to become responsible and active citizens. -

On Sunday, MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati moderated a panel discussion at the Islamic Center of Southern California called “Gaza Teach-In: War Crimes and Settler Colonialism,” between two experts on the crisis. Palestinian Professor George Bisharat of UC Berkeley School of Law and Israeli Professor Gabriel Pieterberg of UCLA's Center for Near Eastern Studies discussed exposed how Israel’s military campaign violates countless international laws and also is rooted in settler colonialism. -

This week marked the two-year anniversary of the Sikh gurdwara shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, which took the lives of six community members: Satwant Singh Kaleka, Paramjit Kaur, Prakash Singh, Ranjit Singh, Sita Singh and Suveg Singh.
