MPAC Prays for Peace and Freedom for All this Eid
July 28, 2014
The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) wishes everyone a joyous Eid ul-Fitr at the conclusion of this blessed month of Ramadan. We also thank you for your generous support of MPAC throughout Ramadan.
For the past month, more than 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide practiced restraint and generosity as a reflection of their commitment to God and the fulfillment of the commandment of fasting. The Quran says “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous” (2:183).
For Muslims, Eid ul-Fitr is a time to celebrate the completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, but it is also a time to pray for those less fortunate, including those impacted by conflict, poverty, hunger and disease.
This Eid, we stand in solidarity with all who throughout Ramadan have faced atrocities, injustice and have been struggling for their freedom. Our hearts are with those who have faced bloodshed in Palestine, horrifying human rights violations in Syria, ongoing slaughter in Myanmar and all who are oppressed.
Eid ul-Fitr is a time for establishing the ties of kinship and friendship, a time for forgiveness and coming together. We pray you, your family and loved ones find peace and joy on this blessed occasion.
