Organizing An Election Forum In Your Community
Along with the importance of hosting community forums, engaging individuals and working with local, state and national campaigns is important. In order to host forums nationwide, we encourage you to partner with community and interfaith leaders. However, American Muslims should also take the initiative to contact and invite candidates for various races as well as representatives from their districts to engage in debate about the issues at the forums. This will help candidates get a better sense of what American Muslims think about particular issues.
Having candidates from local and state election campaigns take part in the forums is significant because American Muslims need to continue to reach out to candidates who will be involved in implementing policies and influencing decision making within communities. Reaching out to the presidential campaigns and inviting them to take part in the discussions will have an immense influence on the way American Muslims can help to build and maintain a positive relationship with those involved in affairs related to their community and the nation as a whole.
