MYG Parents & Youth Host 'Let's Be Honest'

March 23, 2014

This Sunday, March 23, MPAC is partnering with the Muslim Youth Group (MYG) of the Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC) for a "Lets Be Honest" forum at 11 a.m. at ICSC.

Join us for a candid discussion with a diverse panel of leaders from our community including representatives from MYG. We will discuss issues usually categorized as taboo and not to be mentioned in our mosques. Edina Lekovic, MPAC's Director of Policy and Programming, will be moderating the panel.

"This event is about breaking the silence between generations, cultures and genders," Lekovic said . "We have to face the tough issues head on and talk frankly about how to handle them, whether it's about marriage, identity, sexuality, mental health, sectarianism or interfaith relations."

For the first time this year, MYG is opening its doors to parents to attend the session with the youth! We are creating a safe space for youth and parents to discuss the taboo topics of today's Islamic community. Come with your questions and and an open mind!
