MPAC-DC & ADC Invite You to Hear Ambassador Ed Peck on June 23rd

June 21, 2010

The Muslim Public Affairs Council and the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee will hold a special event called "Set the Truth Free: The Freedom Flotilla & the Future of Palestine" on Wednesday, June 23rd featuring Ambassador Edward Peck's eyewitness account of Israel's attack on the humanitarian convoy followed by a Q&A.

Ambassador Peck was part of the 700-member Freedom Flotilla convoy which sought to deliver more than 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid and supplies to the people of Gaza and to break Israel's nearly four year crushing blockade of Gaza, before it was intercepted with deadly force by Israeli commandos. A retired career U.S. diplomat who served 32-years in the U.S. Foreign Service, Peck served as U.S. Ambassador to Iraq under President Jimmy Carter and as Deputy Director of the White House Task Force on Terrorism in the Reagan Administration.

Since his release and return to the States, Peck has told numerous media outlets that Israel's explanation for the attack is "twisting the truth" and is "as full of holes as a window screen."

"Set the Truth Free" is an opportunity for people to get a first-hand account about the events that transpired on the Freedom Flotilla that led to the death of nine humanitarian activists as well as inquire about the larger humanitarian crisis that is suffocating the people of Gaza.
