Charlottesville & Racism: A Discussion with Rev. Jesse Jackson
August 20, 2017
Join us this Sunday at the Islamic Center of Southern California from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM for a candid conversation with renowned civil rights activist, Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.
In light of the current state of race and identity in America, the Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC) and Muslim Public Affairs Council - MPAC will be holding a difficult, yet important, conversation on race, racism and social inequity, #Charlottesville: Injustice Anywhere is Injustice Everywhere.
The horrific acts of terror carried out by violent white supremacists in #Charlottesville, Virginia this past weekend are a crude reminder of the deep roots of racism instilled in American society. As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." We cannot ignore the increased prevalence of neo-Nazi groups, nor can we hope to bridge mutual understanding without collective action.
We hope you will join us in banding together across all races, religions, cultures, and identities to address continued scapegoating and racism in America. Don't miss this conversation!
