Saudi expatriate, Jamal Khashoggi, left his country and family for the freedom to “speak when so many cannot.” One year later, he was murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. In covering issues like race, gender, international politics, and recruiting voices like that of Jamal Khashoggi, Karen Attiah elevates seldom heard stories. Since her colleague’s murder, she has led a movement demanding justice and calling for the protection of journalists worldwide.
