The year's gala was our most inspiring and hopeful event yet! With 600 guests in attendance, including creatives and executives from entertainment and advertising, we honored people and projects exercising “resistance through art.” The night's honorees were HBO’s The Night Of, Oscar-winner The White Helmets, and The Amplifier Foundation’s #WeThePeople campaign. We also recognized Microsoft, Coca-Cola and other advertisers for their inclusive and unifying ads. Visit media-awards.mpac.org for more.

Omar Noureldin, a foreign policy analyst and MPAC vice president & general counsel, joined CNN Newsroom to discuss the impact of the Saudi-led Qatar blockade on U.S. national security interests in the Middle East. Noureldin commented on Saudi Arabia's hegemonic goals in the region and how its blame on Qatar for supporting terrorist groups is a way to deflect from itself. Further isolation of Qatar pushes them closer to Iran, which is not in America's best interest. Watch more commentary by MPAC's policy and media analysts: http://bit.ly/2t5jqYN

Omar Noureldin, a legal analyst, USC law lecturer, and MPAC vice president & general counsel, joined CNN Newsroom to discuss the Supreme Court's decision to hear Trump's Muslim travel ban later this year. Noureldin commented that the decision will likely hinge on two issues. First, whether then-candidate Trump's anti-Muslim campaign statements can be attributed to President Trump's policymaking functions. And, second, how much deference the justices believe should be given to the president's action despite alleged religious animus.
