Today, MPAC stood in solidarity at an emergency press conference led by Congresswoman Judy Chu, alongside Reps. Ilhan Omar, Pramila Jayapal, Don Beyer, Yassamin Ansari, Sylvia Garcia, and Jonathan Jackson, as well as our partners at JPAC, Emgage, NILC, and others to oppose Donald Trump’s renewed travel ban and call for urgent support of the #NoBanAct. This ban is cruel, unjust, and does nothing to make America safer. It tears families apart during life’s most critical moments — weddings, funerals, and births. We’ve passed this Act in the House twice before. We must do it again. 📞 Call your Member of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor the No Ban Act. At a time when anti-Muslim hate and rhetoric are rising at alarming rates, our most pressing need is to organize American Muslim communities. MPAC, in partnership with LA vs Hate, hosted I Am Change: A Community Organizing Workshop, designed to help empower American Muslim communities with the knowledge and skills to influence public discourse, engage policymakers, preserve democracy, and promote a just society where the rights and security of all communities are protected. Free services and resources against hate and discrimination are available through LAvsHate.org and the hate reporting line at 2-1-1.
