Rev. William Barber to Keynote MPAC Convention
October 17, 2017
Dear Friend,
We have an exciting update for you! The speakers at our 17th annual Convention are champions of social justice, religious freedom and conscious activism. And we’ve added two more!
We are proud that Rev. Dr. William Barber will be our Convention keynote speaker. Rev. Barber is a nationally renowned minister, political advocate, architect of the Moral Mondays Movement, and past president of the North Carolina NAACP. Under his leadership, the NAACP made immense progress combatting racial injustice in relation to incarceration, voting rights, and marriage equality. Rev. Dr. Barber spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention and electrified the crowd saying, “Jesus, a brown-skinned Palestinian Jew, called us to preach good news to the poor, the broken and the bruised and all those who are made to feel unaccepted.”
Rev. Ed Bacon is a prominent progressive faith leader and advocate for equal rights, regardless of religion, race, or politics. For 30 years, Rev. Bacon has led interfaith leaders around the country in difficult yet transformative work around privilege, class, race, and interfaith collaboration, including being a guest contributor on Oprah Winfrey's Super Soul Sunday program.
Under his leadership, All Saints Church hosted our 2012 Convention, becoming the first major church to host a national Muslim conference. Rev. Bacon is also the chair of MPAC’s Advisory Council, which advises our public policies, strategic directions, and programs.

I hope you will join us.
Salam Al-Marayati
President
