A national and state level coalition issued a Joint Threat Assessment (JTA) for the 59th Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C., that will be held on January 20th, 2021, due to the recent incidents of ideologically-motivated violence. Here are our recommendations on how to stay safe.

President-Elect Biden has pledged that his Administration will look like America, and we applaud his efforts to achieve that goal. We co-signed a letter with other American Muslim civil society organizations urging them to include American Muslims as high profile members of public service in the next administration. -

Following the insurrection on Capitol Hill, MPAC reached out to champions of democracy on Capitol Hill to convey our support in their condemnation of the violent acts perpetrated by domestic terrorists on our nation's legislative body. -

Forced cremation is a forbidden practice in the faith traditions of Islam and Christianity. We ask that the United States initiate an independent investigation into Sri Lanka's policy, its formation, and the harms that have resulted therefrom. -

MPAC congratulates the recent appointments of two staunch allies of the American Muslim community to the government: Xavier Becerra and Vanita Gupta. We look forward to working with them on our shared goal of developing a robust, inclusive American pluralism that defends the rights of all. -

Acts of sedition are a crime under 18 U.S. Code § 2383. Trump’s rhetoric bolsters white supremacist movements, as does the complicity by members of Congress who ‘stand back and stand by.’ MPAC joins calls to remove Trump for his gross assault on the U.S. Constitution. -

Standing for justice means acknowledging past mistakes and reinvigorating our commitment to those we serve. Our goal had always been to eliminate or change Countering Violent Extremism policies. We recognize our position was wrong. -

MPAC congratulates President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris on their historic win! With African-American and immigrant communities comprising the majority of American Muslims, it is a significant milestone to have someone we can relate to in such a high position. This is a huge step toward a more inclusive America. -

Election Day has passed without a clear victor at the top of the ticket. While our country manages an array of conflicting reports over what happened and what is to come, rest assured, the delay is the result of something for which we should be immensely proud: during an era of pandemic, protest, and political turmoil, we drove out a record level of voters.
