MPAC is now accepting applications for the position of Communications Coordinator in our Washington, DC office. Responsibilities of the Communications Coordinator include but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing communication strategies, plans and programs to enhance public awareness of MPAC positions and campaigns;
- Researching,writing, editing, and distributing news and press releases, website content, e-newsletters,annual reports, talking points, letters to the editors and op-eds related to current affairs on MPAC activities;
- Cultivating relationships with national media professionals with the goal of serving as a resource to and pitching stories;
- Pitching stories, tracking media coverage and fielding media requests;
- Updating and maintaining databases of media professionals (print, radio, tv & web);
- Conducting media outreach and marketing for MPAC events, including press conferences, Convention, Media Awards, Human Security Award;
- Coordinating social media strategy with other staff, including posting MPACnews, tweeting during events and engaging with online community;
- Working closely with Creative Director on print and web materials;
- Located in Washington, DC office.
The candidate must have:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Exceptional presentation development skills;
- Excellent content development skills;
- Both a strong team player and an independent worker;
- Proven ability to build relationships across a diverse organization, fostering trust and credibility;
- Ability to turn complex ideas into stories easily understood by a broad audience;
- Ability to gain consensus among others.
