ICE and the Rule of Law

Videos
On February 11, 2026 By MPAC
Immigration enforcement is no longer a distant policy debate — it is shaping how power is exercised, how laws are applied, and how entire communities experience the rule of law. In this timely conversation, “ICE and the Rule of Law,” we examine the expanding authority of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the serious questions it raises about accountability, civil liberties, and constitutional protections. Joining the discussion: • Mike Downing, former Deputy Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, who brings decades of law enforcement experience and insight into the responsible use of public authority. • Keith Ellison, Minnesota Attorney General, who addresses the legal and civil-rights implications of unchecked enforcement power. Together, we explore how immigration enforcement policies are impacting trust in public institutions, what safeguards may be eroding, and what principled, justice-centered responses grounded in human dignity can look like in this moment. This conversation goes beyond politics. It asks fundamental questions: Are our laws being applied fairly? Are our institutions accountable to the people they serve? And how do we uphold both security and constitutional protections in a way that reflects our shared democratic values? Watch, engage, and join the dialogue. ---------- Subscribe to MPAC's channel: http://bit.ly/MPACYouTube Like MPAC on Facebook: http://fb.com/mpacnational Follow MPAC on Twitter: http://twitter.com/mpac_national Follow MPAC on Instagram: http://instagram.com/mpac_national Visit MPAC's website: http://mpac.org About the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) We improve public understanding and policies that impact American Muslims by engaging our government, media, and communities. Defending Student Advocacy: Protecting Civil Liberties & Free Speech on Campus

Videos
On October 22, 2024 By MPAC
A long-standing tradition on university campuses, students advocating for Palestinian human rights and calling for university divestment from Israel face immense backlash, including smear campaigns, doxxing, character assassinations, and violence. Troublingly, pro-Palestinian students are often falsely labeled as supporters of terrorism, conflating Zionism with anti-Semitism, and portraying their peaceful activism as a national security threat. This dangerous precedent targets individuals solely for their political beliefs, fostering a climate of fear, hostility, and self-censorship on campuses. They face harassment by counter-protestors and law enforcement, as well as threats and disciplinary actions from university administrators, impacting their careers and future prospects. Watch all the panels from the "Ballots Against Bias" symposium. https://bit.ly/4dRFNFr This resource was generously sponsored by LA vs Hate.
